‘Sucks’ is a punk-fueled spiel about the fear of putting all your hopes into the in-person outcome of an online situationship. Ama’s lyricism emphasises the pressure for everything to work out as pictured in her head, reflecting on her over-investment in the relationship, and worrying if the other person will live up to her expectations. Driven by gritty live drums, punchy rock guitars and a gut-wrenching vocal performance; this track revives 2000’s pop/rock with a contemporary twist; blending nostalgia with a modern sensibility.

Emerging from Western Sydney, 22 year old Sri-Lankan/Australian wordsmith Ama, is the latest voice breaking through the indie pop landscape.
The self-confessed emotional wreck, turned songwriter is making an impact with her incredible storytelling, assured vocals and introspective lyricism. Guitar in hand, Ama’s honest takes on relationships in every light, host an emotional but fresh perspective. Influenced by the likes of Alexander 23, Devon Again & John Mayer, Ama’s music bites with a maturity that allows listeners to explore the vulnerability of her words, connect with their innermost feelings, and relate to the raw honesty in her thought provoking storytelling.
Her latest release ‘Sucks’ received airplay on Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, FBI Radio, Joy FM, Abreak58, and saw coverage from blogs locally and internationally. This track also received placement on various Spotify editorials such as ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Fresh Finds Pop’; as well as apple playlists ‘New music daily’ and ‘New in pop’. Having recently opened for Sam Fischer and performing at sold out shows with Sofar Sounds ,Ama treasures her audiences both in person and online. Heavily involved in the TikTok Live community, she is also a featured Australian livestream creator.
Beginning her performance career at the age of 17, Ama is familiar with life as a musician, gigging full-time across Sydney. Her strong work-ethic paired with her passion for creating music has caught the attention of audiences and industry alike.
Joining forces with LA-based artist ‘Jordan Everrett’, their highly anticipated follow up single ‘SKIN’ is slated for release on October 11th and explores the frustration of trying to keep your cool when someone’s really ‘getting under your skin’.
